The best Profound alternatives for retail chains, with prices checked

For a chain, the choice is a report on what AI says about the brand, or each store’s wrong answers fixed. Profound is strong at the first; Ocally is built for the second. Real costs, contract facts and seven alternatives.

ComparisonBy The Ocally teamPrices checked 13 min read

A marketing lead at her desk presses a hand to her forehead, staring at her laptop under a paper speech bubble that holds a rival shop with an orange awning.

The short answer

For a chain of 10 stores or more, the choice is a report on AI answers or each store’s wrong answers fixed. Ocally is built for the second: Kai checks every store’s answers weekly and fixes the listing or page behind a wrong one with your yes, with two people included. For location tracking alone, try Yext Scout or Uberall GEO Studio; on a small budget, Peec AI or Otterly.AI.

This guide is for the marketing or digital lead at a retail chain or franchise brand with 10 stores or more, with Profound on the shortlist. Shoppers now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews where to buy. The decision in front of you: a report on how AI describes your brand, or each store’s wrong answers found and fixed?

Profound is strong at the first. Ocally is built for the second, store by store: Kai checks each store’s answers every week against its facts, fixes the listing or page behind a wrong one once you approve, keeps a receipt, and two people come with him. Yext Scout fits location tracking tied to a listings network, Uberall GEO Studio a published store-level price, and Peec AI or Otterly.AI brand tracking on a small budget.

What Profound does well

Profound is well funded, and it shows. Fair credit first.

  • Many AI engines. Enterprise tracks up to nine, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot and Claude, with prompts run daily 1.
  • More than a dashboard. Its AI Marketer and Agents research, write and report from what they know about your brand 1, and it has added Ads Studio for AI search campaigns 2.
  • Products and traffic. Enterprise tracks products in ChatGPT Shopping and measures AI-sourced traffic 1.
  • Built for big companies. Unlimited seats, API, exports, SSO and SOC 2 on Enterprise 1. Profound says it serves more than 1,000 enterprise brands, including Walmart, and it raised a $180 million Series D on September 15, 2026 2.

For a national brand with a content team, products in ChatGPT Shopping and procurement that needs SOC 2, Profound is built for you.

Profound pricing today

As of October 6, 2026, Profound’s pricing page for brands lists two plans [1]:

PlanPriceWhat you get
TrialFree50 prompts run daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews; 1 language, 1 region; no history, exports or API
EnterpriseCustomUp to 9 engines, daily runs, custom prompts, languages and regions, ChatGPT Shopping, Agent Analytics, API, SSO and SOC 2

Agencies get a separate plan 1. Brands lost theirs: on September 14, 2026, the page still listed Starter at $99 a month (ChatGPT only, 50 prompts) and Growth at $399 (3 engines, 100 prompts), both billed yearly 4. For a chain, Profound is now a quote.

What Profound really costs: the tool plus the people

A tracker’s price leaves out the people who act on what it finds. When an answer names the wrong store or gives last year’s hours, someone still has to fix that store’s listing, page or data, then check again: an AI search agency, someone at head office, or store managers after closing. WebFX puts AI search agency work at $1,500 to $5,000 a month for small businesses and $5,000 to $25,000 or more for mid-sized ones 25. Ocally’s price includes the work.

A chain also needs more than one job done. Ocally’s plan covers listings, reviews, local search, social and AI answers at every store, so the fair comparison is the same work bought the usual way: Profound for its part, the other tools and agencies a chain pays for the rest, and the staff time to run them. Every default below is the low end of a published price. Profound quotes only, so its line is Vendr’s estimate of the median buyer, $34,500 a year, about $2,875 a month, with a range of $28,000 to $61,200 5. It is an estimate, not a Profound price: type your own quote over it, or over any line.

Every default is the low end of a published price; type your own quotes over them. A staff hour is $54: the median pay of market research analysts and marketing specialists, $37.87 an hour (May 2025), plus benefits, which are 30% of what employers spend on pay (June 2026)23,24. The staff and approval hours are our estimates. Ocally’s price is customized, from $500 per location a month. Defaults from: Moz Local pricing; Reputation pricing; RankAI: multi-location local SEO cost guide (June 2026); Cloud Campaign: social media management pricing guide (July 2025); WebFX: GEO pricing (May 2026); BLS: market research analysts and marketing specialists, pay (May 2025); BLS: employer costs for employee compensation (June 2026).

At 25 stores, the same work costs about $19,650 a month bought as tools, agencies and staff hours ($786 a store), against about $13,963 for Ocally with your team’s approval time ($559 a store). That’s about $5,688 a month less with Ocally, $68,250 a year. At mid-range agency prices, the gap grows by thousands a month 25. For AI answers alone, Profound costs less: Profound, the $1,500 agency and an hour per store a week come to about $10,225 a month, against Ocally’s $13,963. The comparison changes once someone has to fix what it finds at every store, alongside the rest of the work a chain needs done.

Why chains look for Profound alternatives

It sees the brand, by country. Profound says it supports country-level analysis by default, and state, province or city level through sales 3. That suits a national brand. A chain needs 40 neighborhoods.

A store question is a different question. In BrightLocal’s 2026 survey, 45% of US consumers had used ChatGPT or another AI tool for local recommendations, up from 6% a year earlier 6. Someone asks for rain boots near Station Road. A brand tracker logs a win if your brand is named, even if the answer sent them to your Oak Street store, four miles away, with last year’s hours.

Count stores, not mentions: which store did the answer name, and were its hours right?

The fix is usually local. Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode need no special tricks: indexed pages eligible for a snippet, structured data that matches the page, and an up-to-date Business Profile 7. So a wrong store answer is often fixed in a listing or a store page. Profound’s agents are built for brand content and campaigns 1,2.

Prompts multiply with stores. Ten questions for each of 40 stores is 400 prompts, before you choose engines: more than Peec AI’s Advanced plan holds (350) 12 and right at Otterly.AI’s Premium limit (400) 18.

What most buyers don’t know about Profound

Most of this is in Profound’s standard Master Subscription Agreement, last updated June 5, 2026 26. An order form can change some terms, so get yours in writing.

  • The price follows what you track. Enterprise is priced on custom prompts, languages and regions 1, so ask for a quote that covers every store’s neighborhood. The free trial runs 7 days in one region 1, too short to see an answer change week to week.
  • Orders renew on their own. An order renews automatically for the renewal term it names, unless either side gives notice at least 30 days before the next term starts 26. Put that date in the calendar the day you sign.
  • A discount lasts one term. Renewals are at Profound’s then-current rates, regardless of any earlier discount, and fees are non-refundable except in one narrow legal case 26. Ask for a renewal price cap.
  • No early exit for fit. The termination clause covers a breach not fixed within 30 days of notice, or the other side shutting down or going bankrupt 26. Nothing in it lets you leave mid-term because the tool isn’t working for your stores.
  • Export before you go. When it ends, access stops and Profound will return or delete your data 26. Enterprise has CSV and JSON exports and an API 1, so pull the history you want to keep first.
  • Checking and fixing stay with you. The agreement says the service’s content may be inaccurate and that you are responsible for evaluating it 26. Users in AI search communities on Reddit describe its data as hard to turn into action 21, and some who tried both said Peec AI covered their needs at about half the price 20. An Enterprise customer there said they get a lot of value from it 22.

The 7 best Profound alternatives for retail chains

New to the category? Our guide to AI visibility tools explains what these tools measure.

1. Ocally (that’s us)

Best for: chains of 10 stores or more that want each store’s AI answers checked against its facts and the wrong ones fixed, with two people included.

Kai, Ocally’s AI growth agent, works store by store. He researches what shoppers ask, and you approve the questions he tracks for each store. Every week he asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, saves each answer with its sources, model, place and date, checks every claim against that store’s facts, and notes whether it named your store or a competitor.

Then he fixes what the answer read: an FAQ on the store page, a wrong listing on Google, Apple Maps, Bing, Yelp or Facebook, or missing structured data. Each fix waits for your yes, keeps a receipt and is read back once live. Then he asks again. See how AI answers work with Kai.

A growth engineer connects your systems, and a growth specialist checks Kai’s work. Together they replace the tracker, the agency’s fixes and the staff hours.

Pricing: customized, with a minimum of $500 per location a month, so at least $12,500 a month for 25 stores. The first consultation is free, and the growth engineer and growth specialist are on Ocally to start.

Where Ocally isn’t the fit: Ocally is young: founded in 2026, working with design partners in Southern California, with no published customers or results and no security certifications yet. Kai asks three assistants himself; others, such as AI Mode, come in as captures you bring. If you want software only, a tracker costs less up front, and if procurement needs SOC 2 and nine engines today, Profound fits better. Start with one store and judge the fixes.

2. Yext Scout

Best for: location-by-location AI visibility, tied to a big listings network.

Scout measures each location in Google Search, Maps and AI Overviews, plus ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, against your 20 closest competitors, and recommends fixes. Yext’s agents can update listings and reply to reviews across its 200+ publishers, and Yext says your team stays in control 8.

Pricing: quote only. For most solutions it is your location count times a unit rate, usually billed yearly, with multi-year proposals as the default. Scout can be bought on its own 9.

One honest limit: Google AI Mode isn’t among the engines Scout’s FAQ names 8. Ask whether it is coming.

3. Uberall GEO Studio

Best for: store-level AI tracking with a published price and a free trial.

GEO Studio shows how AI engines describe your brand and locations, with citations, competitor gaps and recommendations by location. Its content tool writes FAQs and posts, with an approval step before anything goes live 10. You pick from 11 engines, AI Mode included 11.

Pricing: GEO Starter is $109 a month (50 prompts, 3 engines). GEO Scale is $449 (150 prompts, 5 engines) and adds location-level tracking. The full plan is custom, with guided setup. Self-serve plans have a 7-day free trial 11.

One honest limit: 150 prompts is 15 questions each for 10 stores. A bigger chain lands on the custom plan 11.

4. Peec AI

Best for: brand-level tracking across countries and languages, at a clear monthly price.

Peec tracks visibility, sentiment and share of voice daily, shows which sources answers cite, and fact-checks answers against facts you set. Every plan lists a Local GEO feature. You pick 3 engines and can pay to add more, Perplexity included 12.

Pricing: Starter is $95 a month (50 prompts), Pro $245 (150) and Advanced $495 (350), with 15% off yearly; Enterprise is custom. Countries and languages cost nothing extra, and there is a free trial 12.

One honest limit: each prompt runs from the country you set 13, so you write the place into store questions yourself. Ask to see Local GEO on one of your stores.

5. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

Best for: teams already on Semrush for SEO.

The toolkit adds prompt research, daily tracking on engines such as AI Mode and ChatGPT, and Brand Performance reports by location, down to cities 14.

Pricing: $99 a month with 25 prompts and no free trial; 50 more prompts cost $60 a month 14. SEO and AI search bundles run $199 to $549 a month 15.

One honest limit: each extra domain or location in Brand Performance costs $99 a month 14. Across 40 cities, that is nearly $3,900 a month.

6. Ahrefs Brand Radar

Best for: benchmarking your brand against rivals, with no setup.

Its AI Visibility Index covers 462 million prompts across six engines, AI Mode included. Custom prompts track your own questions, Claude included 16.

Pricing: the index starts at $199 a month, and custom prompt packages cost $50, $100 or $250 a month 17. Lite, with 5 daily custom prompts 16, is $129 a month 17.

One honest limit: Ahrefs says the index works best for established brands with real search demand 16. Store questions need custom prompts, paid by the check.

7. Otterly.AI

Best for: the smallest budget, or a first test.

Otterly tracks brand mentions and cited links in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, and audits your pages for AI search 18.

Pricing: Lite is $29 a month (15 prompts), Standard $189 (100) and Premium $489 (400), with 15% off yearly; Enterprise is custom. There is a free trial 18.

One honest limit: AI Mode and Gemini are add-ons, $9 to $149 a month each, depending on your plan 18.

Also on shortlists. Scrunch’s Core plan is $250 a month for 125 prompts on four engines in one country; its custom Enterprise plan adds AI Mode 19.

How to choose: a checklist for the demo

Bring one store, ideally one with a rival two blocks away, to every demo, Profound’s included.

  • Track three real questions for that store’s neighborhood, live. Can the tool ask from that town, or only the country?
  • Does it check the answer’s facts (hours, address, what you sell) against that store’s facts, and show when it named a sister store or a rival?
  • Which engines does it ask itself, and which cost extra? Is AI Mode in the plan you’d buy?
  • What does it cost for all your stores (stores times questions times engines), plus the people who act on it?
  • When an answer is wrong, who fixes it, and what waits for your approval? Can it change listings and store pages, or only recommend? Our Ask Maps guide lists the profile fields to check first.
  • Contract length, renewal notice date, renewal price and what happens to your data if you leave, in writing.
  • Can you speak with a customer that runs a similar number of stores?

Why chains choose Ocally

  • Every store gets its own plan. Each location is its own business, with its own neighbors and rivals. Kai tracks the questions shoppers ask about each store and measures results against that store’s own starting point.
  • The work gets done. Kai fixes the listing, page or structured data behind a wrong answer, then asks again. Nobody turns a dashboard into a to-do list.
  • Two people come with it. A growth engineer connects your systems, and a growth specialist checks Kai’s work.
  • Nothing goes out without your yes. Every action keeps a receipt: what changed, where, and whether it was checked once live.
  • One plan instead of a stack. Listings, reviews, local search, AI answers, social, messaging and store routines run from one record of each store’s facts. Each business gets its own isolated platform, and Ocally doesn’t train AI models on your data.

Bring the store you’d least like ChatGPT to describe, and compare what each tool shows you with what it fixes.

Compare on your own store

Bring one store to a free 30-minute consultation. We look at how it shows up today and what Kai would do there first, so you compare tools on your own data, not on anyone’s claims, ours included.

Questions

How much does Profound cost?

Profound doesn’t publish a price for brands. Its pricing page lists a free Trial (50 prompts run daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and a custom Enterprise plan 1. Until mid-September 2026 it also listed Starter at $99 and Growth at $399 a month, billed yearly 4. Vendr, a software buying service, estimates the median buyer pays $34,500 a year: an estimate, not a Profound price 5.

What is the best Profound alternative for multi-location brands?

If you want each store’s AI answers checked and the wrong ones fixed, with approvals and two people included, Ocally is built for it, from $500 per location a month. For tracking by location alone, Yext Scout measures each location across Google Search, Maps, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity 8, and Uberall GEO Studio adds location-level tracking from $449 a month 11.

Is Ocally cheaper than Profound?

For AI answers alone, no. Vendr estimates Profound’s median at about $2,875 a month 5; Ocally starts at $500 per location, $12,500 for 25 stores. But a tracker reports and someone fixes, and a chain needs listings, reviews, local search and social too. Bought as tools, agencies and staff hours, that work costs about $19,650 a month at 25 stores 25, against about $13,963 for Ocally.

Who are Profound’s competitors?

Profound’s main competitors in AI visibility tracking are Peec AI, Scrunch, Otterly.AI, Semrush’s AI Visibility Toolkit and Ahrefs Brand Radar. For multi-location brands, Yext Scout and Uberall GEO Studio compete too, since both track AI answers by location 8,10. They differ in which AI engines they ask, how prompts are priced, and whether anyone fixes what they find.

Does Profound track AI answers for each store?

Profound runs prompts by region. Its own post says it supports country-level analysis by default, and state, province or city level for organizations that need it, through its sales team 3. The Trial covers one region 1. A chain should ask to see one store’s neighborhood questions tracked, with the answer and its sources, before signing.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Profound?

Yes, several publish prices. Otterly.AI starts at $29 a month for 15 prompts 18. Peec AI starts at $95 a month for 50 prompts 12. Semrush’s AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 a month 14, and Uberall GEO Studio starts at $109 11. Check how many prompts your stores really need, since that sets the price, and who will act on what the tool finds.
