# AI visibility tools compared, for brands with many stores

> A chain with 10 or more stores chooses between a tracker its team runs and the work done for each store. For the work done, with approvals and two people included, Ocally. For brand tracking at a clear price, Peec AI or Otterly.ai. For enterprise scale, Profound or Scrunch. On Semrush or Ahrefs already, their add-ons. For per-location tracking, Yext Scout, or BrightLocal on a small budget.

Most AI visibility tools count how often ChatGPT names your brand. A chain needs each store's answers checked and the wrong ones fixed: that's what Ocally does. Seven other tools too, priced on their own sites.

A comparison page by Ocally, which builds one of the tools compared, so it is not neutral. Prices and features checked on each company's own site on 2026-10-06. 23 sources, cited inline as [n] and listed at the end.

## Key takeaways

- A chain needs to know what each assistant says about each store, and who fixes it when it's wrong.
- Most trackers price by prompts and report on the brand. Ten questions for 40 stores is 400 prompts.
- Answers change almost every run, so trust the share of answers that name a store, never one screenshot [3].
- Ocally checks each store weekly and fixes the source with your yes. For the same work, it costs less than a tracker plus the agencies and hours to act on it.

This guide is for whoever owns how a retail chain or franchise brand shows up online. Shoppers now ask AI where to buy: in BrightLocal's 2026 survey, 45% of US consumers said they had used ChatGPT or another AI tool for local recommendations, up from 6% a year before [1].

With 10 or more stores, the real choice is between a tracker your team runs and the work done for each store. Most tools here are trackers. They report how often assistants name your brand, and your team or an agency fixes what's wrong, store by store.

**If you want the work done per store, we think Ocally is the pick.** Kai, Ocally's AI growth agent, checks each store's answers every week, fixes the listing or page behind a wrong one once you approve it, and checks again, with two people from Ocally included. For a tracker, Peec AI and Otterly.ai have clear prices, Profound and Scrunch suit large brands, Semrush and Ahrefs suit teams already on them, and Yext Scout and BrightLocal report store by store.

## What AI visibility tools measure

An AI visibility tool does what you'd do by hand, at scale. It keeps a list of questions, called prompts, like "best paint store near Pasadena". It asks them of AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews (the AI summary at the top of some Google results), daily or weekly. Then it counts [2]:

- **Visibility, or mention rate:** the share of answers that name your brand.
- **Citations:** the pages the assistant used as sources, and whether any are yours.
- **Share of voice:** your mentions as a share of all the brands named.
- **Position and sentiment:** where in the answer you were named, and whether the words around you are warm or critical.

Why not just ask ChatGPT yourself? Because the answer keeps changing. In a SparkToro study of 2,961 runs across ChatGPT, Claude and Google's AI, the same list of brands came back less than 1% of the time [3]. The steadier signal was how often a brand showed up across many runs [3].

> One answer is an anecdote. A hundred answers to the same question is a measurement.

## What most buyers don't know about AI visibility tools

Five things that rarely come up in a demo, and that matter more with every store you add.

**1. The bill grows with every store.** Most tools price by prompts, and Peec AI counts its monthly answers as prompts times assistants times how often each is asked [4]. Ten local questions for each of 40 stores is 400 prompts: past Peec AI's Advanced plan (350) [4], equal to Otterly.ai's Premium (400) [5], double Semrush's largest self-serve bundle (200) [9] and over three times Scrunch's Core plan (125) [7]. Ahrefs counts one check per prompt, per platform, per location and per update [10].

**2. More assistants cost more.** Peec AI's plans include three assistants of your choice, with all models on Enterprise [4]. Otterly.ai charges extra for Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude [5]. Ahrefs' AI Visibility Index is $199 a month, or $699 for all models [10].

**3. A score is a direction, not a result.** Answers change from run to run [3], so marketers on Reddit who use these tools treat share of voice as a trend to watch, not a number tied to traffic or sales [19].

**4. Most tools see the brand, not the store.** Shoppers ask where to get a key cut near them, open now. Peec's docs break results down by model, topic and country [17], Semrush prices its toolkit per domain [8], and Scrunch's Core plan covers one country [7]. A healthy brand number can hide a store that never comes up. Google Maps now answers in chat too: [our Ask Maps guide](https://ocally.co/blog/google-ask-maps.md) has a 15-minute test for each store.

**5. A tracker reports. Someone still makes the fix.** If ChatGPT says your Pasadena store closes at 6 and it closes at 7, the fix lives at the source: the store's Google Business Profile, its page on your site, a directory listing, or its structured data (the code that tells search engines a page's address and hours). Many tools suggest fixes and some write content [4, 6, 18], yet a commenter in r/localseo noted that many monitor without saying what to change [23]. Publishing, approving and checking again falls to your team or an agency. We price that [below](#real-cost).

## The eight AI visibility tools, one by one

Prices come from each company's own site, checked October 6, 2026. We list ourselves first; every other entry says what that tool does well.

### Ocally (that's us)

**Best for:** chains and franchise brands with 10 or more stores that want each store's AI answers checked and fixed, with people included.

Kai works store by store. He researches what shoppers ask about stores like yours, and you choose the list for each store. Every week he asks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews those questions, saves each answer with its sources, model, place and date, and checks every claim against that store's facts. Reports show mention rate, citation rate and share of voice per assistant, per store.

When an answer is wrong, he fixes what it read: an FAQ on the store page, missing structured data, or the [listing itself](https://ocally.co/capabilities/listings.md) on Google, Apple Maps, Bing, Yelp or Facebook. Each fix waits for your yes and keeps a receipt. Then he asks again. Connect your analytics to see which visits to each store's page came from AI assistants. More on [how Kai handles AI answers](https://ocally.co/capabilities/ai-answers.md).

A growth engineer connects your systems, and a growth specialist checks Kai's work and guides your team. Kai and the two of them replace the tracker, the agency's fixes and the staff hours spent typing store questions into ChatGPT. The same plan can take on [reviews](https://ocally.co/capabilities/reviews.md), listings and [local search](https://ocally.co/capabilities/local-search.md) too.

**Pricing:** customized, with a minimum of $500 per location a month. The first consultation is free, and both people are on Ocally to start.

**Where Ocally isn't the fit:** Ocally was founded in 2026, works with design partners in Southern California and publishes no customer names or results yet, so judge it on one of your own stores. Kai asks three assistants directly; answers from others come in as captures you import. If you want software your own team runs, a tracker below costs less up front.

### Peec AI

**Best for:** marketing and SEO teams that want clean brand tracking at a clear price.

Peec AI tracks prompts daily and reports visibility, share of voice, sentiment and position against competitors [2]. It shows cited sources, ranks recommended actions, can check answers against facts you set, and lists a Local GEO feature [4].

**Pricing:** Starter $95 a month (50 prompts), Pro $245 (150) and Advanced $495 (350), each with three assistants and unlimited users. Enterprise is custom. Annual billing saves 15% [4].

**Ask about:** how Local GEO would track 40 neighborhoods.

### Otterly.ai

**Best for:** small teams and agencies that want the lowest entry price.

Otterly.ai tracks prompts daily in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Every plan includes GEO audits, which check whether your pages are easy for AI to read and cite [5].

**Pricing:** Lite $29 a month (15 prompts), Standard $189 (100), Premium $489 (400), and Enterprise from 1,000 prompts at a custom price. Extra prompts cost $99 per 100 [5].

**Ask about:** how prompts map to stores.

### Profound

**Best for:** large brands that want wide assistant coverage and content agents.

On Enterprise, Profound tracks up to nine answer engines plus ChatGPT Shopping. Its AI Marketer researches and writes for your brand, and Agent Analytics tracks AI-sourced traffic to your site [6].

**Pricing:** a free 7-day trial (50 prompts a day on three engines, one region). Enterprise is quote only [6].

**Ask about:** reporting for each store; regions are custom on Enterprise [6]. Already on Profound? See [Profound alternatives](https://ocally.co/compare/profound-alternatives.md).

### Scrunch

**Best for:** brands that want monitoring plus changes to how AI reads their website.

Scrunch tracks presence, position, sentiment and citations, audits your site and offers page optimizations, up to automated changes [7, 18]. Its Agent Experience Platform (AXP) serves AI agents a version of your pages built for them, without changing what people see [18].

**Pricing:** Core is $250 a month for 125 prompts, four assistants, one country and five users. Enterprise is custom [7].

**Ask about:** local questions at store level.

### Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

**Best for:** teams already on Semrush for SEO.

The toolkit reports mentions from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity, with prompt research, competitor analysis and a site audit for AI readiness [8].

**Pricing:** $99 a month per domain, billed annually, with 25 tracked prompts [8]. SEO + AI Search bundles cost $199 to $549 a month for 50 to 200 prompts [9].

**Ask about:** how every store's questions fit inside one domain's prompts.

### Ahrefs Brand Radar

**Best for:** SEO teams that want market-wide data on which brands AI names.

Brand Radar runs more than 462 million prompts, built from real searches, through six AI platforms, so you can look up any brand with no setup [10].

**Pricing:** custom prompts from $50 a month, and the AI Visibility Index from $199 [10]. Paid Ahrefs plans, $129 to $449 a month, include 5 to 20 tracked prompts [11].

**Ask about:** cost per store, since checks are counted per location [10].

### Yext Scout

**Best for:** multi-location brands whose listings already run on Yext.

Scout measures visibility location by location across Google Search, Maps, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, against up to 20 nearby competitors, and ranks fixes by location. Yext's agents can then update listings, respond to reviews and post social content, with your team in control [12].

**Pricing:** quote only, by location count, solution and contract length [13].

**Ask about:** what's in the package. Its agents publish through Yext's network of 200+ publishers [12].

**Two other local options.** BrightLocal's Local AI Visibility Tracker scores each location in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews, with up to 20 prompts per location [14]. It's in every plan, from $31 a month for one location billed annually; 41 to 50 locations cost $261 a month on Track, billed monthly [15]. Uberall's GEO Studio, launched with AthenaHQ in December 2025, monitors AI visibility at brand and location level [16].

Cells come from each company's own pages [4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13]. "Ask" means those pages don't say how it reports on each store.

## What AI visibility really costs: the tracker plus the people

A tracker's price covers the tracker. Someone still writes each store's questions, reads the reports, fixes the listing or page behind each wrong answer and checks again: head office hours, an agency's retainer, or store managers' evenings. WebFX puts AI search agency work, often called GEO, at $1,500 to $5,000 a month for small businesses and $5,000 to $25,000 or more for mid-sized ones [22]. Ocally's price includes the work.

A chain also needs more than one job done. Ocally’s plan covers listings, reviews, local search, social and AI answers at every store, so the fair comparison is the same work bought the usual way: an AI visibility tracker for its part, the other tools and agencies a chain pays for the rest, and the staff time to run them. Every default below is the low end of a published price. The tracker line is Peec AI’s public Pro price [4], which allows about six questions per store at 25 stores. Type your own quotes over any line.

**The same scope of work for 25 stores, a month (listings, reviews, local search, social and AI answers; the low end of published prices; use your own numbers):**

| Line | Basis | Tools, agencies and people | Ocally |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listings software (Moz Local Lite, $199 a year per location) | $17 per store | $425 | |
| Review software (Reputation Rep Core, per location) | $80 per store | $2,000 | |
| Peec AI Pro (the tracker) (public price, 150 prompts) | $245 a month | $245 | |
| Local SEO agency (chains of 20+ stores, "often $5,000+") | $5,000 a month | $5,000 | |
| Social media agency (mid tier, $2,000 to $5,000) | $2,000 a month | $2,000 | |
| AI search agency to fix what the tracker finds (small business low end, $1,500 to $5,000) | $1,500 a month | $1,500 | |
| Staff time to run the tools and agencies | 1 hour per store a week at $54 an hour | $5,850 | |
| Ocally | from $500 per store: Kai, a growth engineer and a growth specialist | | $12,500 |
| Your team's time approving Kai's work | 0.25 hour per store a week | | $1,463 |
| **Total a month** | | **$17,020** | **$13,963** |
| Per store a month | | $681 | $559 |

At 25 stores, even at the cheapest published prices, the same work costs about $17,020 a month bought as tools, agencies and staff hours ($681 a store), against about $13,963 for Ocally with your team’s approval time ($559 a store). That’s about $3,058 a month less with Ocally, $36,690 a year. At mid-range agency prices, the gap grows by thousands a month [22]. For tracking AI answers alone, a tracker costs less than Ocally. The comparison changes once someone has to fix what it finds, at every store, alongside the rest of the work a chain needs done.

## Why chains choose Ocally

- **Each store gets its own plan and results.** Kai tracks each store's own questions and measures it against its own starting point, so no store hides behind the brand average.
- **The work gets done.** Kai fixes the listing, page or structured data behind a wrong answer, then asks again. You review fixes, not a dashboard.
- **Two people are included.** A growth engineer connects your systems; a growth specialist checks Kai's work and guides your team.
- **Nothing goes out without your yes.** Every fix waits for approval, an edited fix needs a fresh yes, and every action keeps a receipt.
- **One plan instead of a stack.** Listings, reviews, local search, AI answers, social, messaging and store routines run from the same store facts. Your data sits in its own isolated platform, and Ocally does not train AI models on it.

The fairest test is one store: bring the one you'd least like ChatGPT to describe.

## How to choose: a checklist for the demo

Bring one real store to every demo, ideally the one you worry about most.

- [ ] Show me what ChatGPT, Google and Perplexity said this week about one of our stores, by name and street.
- [ ] Which assistants do you ask directly, and which numbers come from a database, an estimate or an import?
- [ ] Where is each question asked from, and how many times?
- [ ] Do you check answers against our real store facts, or only count mentions?
- [ ] Price all our stores in writing: stores, questions per store, assistants and how often.
- [ ] When an answer is wrong, who fixes the source, who approves it, and who checks again?
- [ ] Can a store manager see their own store's results, and only theirs?
- [ ] Can we export our full answer history if we leave?
- [ ] Who from your side works with us each week, and is that in the price?

**Walk away from anyone who promises a mention.** Assistants change their answers almost every run [3], so no one can guarantee one. What you can buy is a clear view of each store and a steady way to fix what's wrong.

## Questions

### What are AI visibility tools?

AI visibility tools, also called AI SEO tools, ask assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews your customers' questions, many times over. They record whether your brand is named, which pages are cited and which competitors appear, and report visibility, share of voice, position and sentiment [2]. Some suggest fixes, and a few make them.

### How do I track brand mentions in ChatGPT?

List the questions customers really ask, like where to buy paint near a neighborhood, and ask each one many times, because ChatGPT's answer changes almost every run [3]. Record whether your brand is named, what it says and which pages it cites. Peec AI, Otterly.ai and Semrush's toolkit do this daily [4, 5, 8]. For a chain, give each store its own local questions.

### How much do AI visibility tools cost?

On their own sites in October 2026: Otterly.ai from $29 a month, Ahrefs Brand Radar custom prompts from $50, Peec AI from $95, Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit $99 a month per domain and Scrunch from $250 [4, 5, 7, 8, 10]. Profound and Yext Scout are quote only [6, 13]. Most price by prompts, so a chain's cost grows with stores times questions.

### What is the best AI visibility tool for multi-location brands?

If you want each store's wrong answers fixed, with approvals and two people included, Ocally, from $500 per location a month. If you want a tracker that reports store by store, Yext Scout measures each location against up to 20 nearby competitors [12], and BrightLocal scores each location in ChatGPT and Google's AI from $31 a month for one location, billed annually [14, 15].

### Is Ocally cheaper than an AI visibility tool?

For tracking alone, no: Peec AI's Pro plan is $245 a month for the brand [4], and Ocally starts at $500 per location. For the work a chain needs done, yes. At 25 stores, a tracker, an agency to fix what it finds, the other tools and agencies for listings, reviews, local search and social, and the staff hours to run them cost about $17,000 a month even at the cheapest published prices, against about $14,000 for Ocally [20, 21, 22].

### Can an AI visibility tool guarantee my stores show up in ChatGPT?

No. Assistants give a different answer almost every time [3], and no tool controls them. A good tool shows where each store is missing or described wrongly, and which sources the answers used. Fixing those sources, like listings, store pages and structured data, gives the assistants better facts to work from. Be wary of anyone who promises a mention.
